Band history

Cult of the Fox was formed in early 2007 by Magnus Hultman (vocals), Peter Svensson (bass), Malte Nordström (guitars) and Thomas Hedlund (drums). The band recorded their first demo, entitled ”Kitsunetsuki”, during the summer that year. The demo was followed by the band’s live debut at the Robstock festival alongside other Swedish acts like Portrait and 7 Sins. Later that year the band did their first live show outside of Sweden at the United Metal Maniacs club in Germany.

During the fall of 2007 Thomas left the band and was replaced by Daniel Fritze (drums). In 2008 the band released their second demo, “The Power We Serve”, at a celebrated live gig at KB in Malmö. The demo was followed by a single track called “A Slave to the Reaper” which was recorded exclusively for a yet unreleased French metal compilation album. Cult of the Fox focused on live gigs at metal clubs throughout Sweden for most of 2008 and 2009.

Per Persson (guitars) joined the band during this time and Malte left the band. In late 2010 the band released their third demo, “The Sea beneath the Sand”. It was recorded by the band at The Docks Studios in Malmö. At the same time Erika Wallberg (guitars) joined the band as second guitarist.

In the spring of 2011 Cult of the Fox recorded their debut full lenght album called "A Vow of Vengeance" for german Metalbound Records. The CD was recorded at The Docks Studios and mixed at the famous swedish metal studio Studio Fredman. It was released at the Headbangers Open Air festival on the 29th of July 2011.

Cult of the Fox plays contemporary heavy metal, firmly rooted in the classic bands of the eighties. The focus of the band has always been on powerful yet melodic songs with strong conviction and passion.
